Prime Day 2023: What You Need to Know

Amazon has finally announced the dates of Prime Day, and we’re here to help you prepare for the occasion. Whether you’re a Prime Day veteran or have never heard of the event, read on to learn the ins and outs of this year’s Prime Day, and how you can make it your most successful sales “day” of the year. (Why the quotes around “day”? Well…)

  

When is Prime Day? 

Prime “Day” actually takes place over two days. It will begin on July 11th at 3 AM EDT and end on July 12th, 2023. Typically, this event takes place just once a year. However, last year, Amazon had two different Prime-exclusive events: Prime Day in July and Prime Early Access Sale in October. We anticipate that we’ll see the same thing this year, but as of now, Amazon has not announced any fall events.

  

What is Prime Day? 

Originally created as a celebration of Amazon's 20th birthday, Prime Day is an event featuring major deals and discounts on hundreds of items on Amazon. From televisions to Amazon Echos, there are tons of huge discounts on big ticket items during this event, almost like a premature Cyber Monday.

The only catch? Prime deals are exclusive to Amazon Prime members, which means regular Amazon customers who don’t pay for the perks of Prime won’t be able to participate. As an added perk for members, Amazon’s new invite-only deals program will allow them to request invitations to bigger and better deals that are expected to sell out quickly.

 

How to Prepare for Prime Day

If you’re an e-commerce business that uses Amazon to advertise or sell your products (or both), it’s a good idea to prepare for Prime Day and spruce up your listings, whether or not you plan on striking prices down for the occasion. After all, there will be a lot of eyes on the site during Prime Day, and people may purchase items that aren’t participating in the event. Businesses should also take the time to optimize their listings, and ensure that product information is up to date and that pictures are of a high quality. Still, if you really want to get customers’ attention, Prime Day discounts are the way to go.

You can create Prime Exclusive Discounts from the Prime Exclusive Discounts home page. Just click “Create Discount” and go from there! These discounts will appear next to the regular prices of products as customers view them.

Also, make sure to boost your advertising before and during Prime Day. The more people aware of your brand – and your Prime Day discounts – the more people who might purchase from your business!
