Maybe you’re looking to start running display ads with Google Ads, but not sure where to begin.
Perhaps you’re interested in learning about ways to improve the performance of the display ads you’re already running.
Or, maybe you just want a refresher on some of Google Ads’s display-related features.
Do any of these sound like you? Then you should consider getting a Google Ads Display certification!
Today, we’re walking you through the process from start to finish. By the time you finish reading this post, you’ll know how to begin the display certification process, what you can expect to learn, and how to take the assessment that will earn you that sweet certification.
(PS. You can learn about the other certifications that Google Ads offers here.)
Google’s certifications are earned through Skillshop, where users can complete lessons that will prepare them for their assessment. Simply link your Google account to Skillshop and select the assessment you want to prepare for!
Skillshop’s Google Ads Display Certification covers a wide breadth of topics that are divided into different lessons or study guides. Note that these get small updates from time to time as Google Ads introduces new features, but you can probably expect to find roughly the same topics covered in your certification no matter when you begin the process. Here are a few things you can expect to learn from these lessons.
How to Meet Business Goals: Users will learn how to use Display Ads to meet business objectives. You’ll learn how to develop plans and budgets that are in alignment with overall marketing strategies and goals.
Different Campaign Types: There are a couple different types of Display campaigns and objectives that you can choose for Google’s algorithm to optimize towards. You’ll learn how to discern which objectives and campaign types are right for you.
Automated Bidding: Users will learn the ins and outs of Google’s automated bidding system.
Using Performance Planner: Performance Planner is a useful tool that predicts certain outcomes as seasons, budgets, and other campaign settings change. You’ll learn how to use this tool with your Display ads.
Think you already know your way around Display campaigns? Skillshop offers a Knowledge Check Assessment, a short series of questions that will give you a good idea of whether you understand the material that will be on the “real” assessment. Once you’re confident in your knowledge, you can start the certification test!
Note that this test is timed, and you’ll need a score of 80% or higher to pass. But don’t worry! If you don’t pass the first time, you can always take it again after at least one day has passed.
Becoming certified definitely has its perks. Not only is it a demonstration of your skills, but, if enough employees at a company are certified, your company can become a Google Partner, like Relevance Advisors.
