As my internship comes to a close after 4 months, I take some time to reflect on what I have learned and how I have grown during my time at Relevance Advisors. I came in with a background in marketing, but without knowing much about the specifics of the digital world. Now, I have learned more than I could have imagined.
At the beginning of my internship, I had a variety of training about Google ads, Facebook ads, Amazon Ads, and SEO. I also received certifications through online training for Google, Amazon, and Facebook Ads. This provided me with a good background and basic understanding of paid search, but of course, the best way to really learn something is by doing it. I ended up getting the chance to create Amazon, Google, and Facebook ads for a client that operates a board game company.
I also helped the team with monthly reporting where I learned how to use Google Data Studio and summarize results for a variety of clients. These organizational and communication skills are something I can take with me for the rest of my career.
I also worked on an SEO and PPC project for the Florida Holocaust Museum. I analyzed the clients' Google Grant account and offered suggestions to optimize it. I also analyzed the museum's website and looked for errors, site speed, title tags, headlines, and images. I then presented this information to the client and answered their questions about how to best proceed.
Another tactic I helped with on the SEO side was keyword research. When clients were interested in creating new content I used our third-party software tools to determine what keywords would be helpful to use.
Throughout the internship, I had the opportunity to sit in on a variety of client meetings. Here I learned about more digital marketing strategies, tools, and findings as well as typical questions clients may have.
Overall, I am very thankful for this opportunity to learn from the talented individuals at Relevance Advisors, and will take the skills I have learned this fall with me for the rest of my career!
