Last week, Google announced a new suite of “targeting and creative enhancements” called AI Max, and the company is expected to begin rolling it out in beta by the end of the month.
In advance of AI Max’s debut, let’s discuss some of the features being introduced so that you can be prepared when this new tool is released.
Google has been investing heavily into AI-powered solutions for end users, like AI Overviews and Google Lens, and has seemingly had great success in doing so. The company continues to advance in its own AI technology as it works to maintain its position as the top search engine, and is now further expanding its AI tools to advertisers.
Enter AI Max, a “one-click feature suite” with a variety of AI-powered tools for Google Ads Search campaigns. This new tool suite will include features called search term matching, text customization, and final URL expansion, with the ultimate goal of maximizing paid search ad performance.
Here are the main three highlights of AI Max’s suite of features. While some of these features aren’t exactly new, they’ve been updated to be a part of AI Max.
Search Term Matching: Google’s AI will learn from your current keywords and ads in order to help you to find new high-value keywords. You can also use locations of interest to reach people based on geographical interest at the ad group level.
Text Customization: Formerly known as automatically created assets, this campaign-level setting can generate headline and description assets that will be integrated with your responsive search ads.
Final URL Expansion: This feature works at the campaign level to send ad traffic to the most relevant URLs on your domain. If AI Max thinks that a certain URL from your website will result in better performance, it will send traffic there.
According to Google, companies have seen improved results by using AI Max to improve their Search ads. They tout the same precision that traditional keywords offer, with the ability to reach additional, untapped markets. For those interested in implementing AI tools into their workflow, AI Max might be for you.
Advertisers can expect to start seeing AI Max in the coming weeks. There will be an option to opt-in to the suite when creating Search campaigns on Google Ads.
