Earlier this year, we talked about Apple’s different ad placement options. Today, we’re comparing Apple Ads Advanced and Apple Ads Basic, Apple’s two advertising solutions that are designed to cater to different levels of expertise and marketing resources.
For simplified, largely automated advertising, Apple Ads Basic is a great option. Developers can use Apple Ads Basic to run ads for an app at the top of the search results in the App Store. Here’s how it works.
Select Your App: Choose any app associated with your App Store Connect account. You can promote up to 50 apps.
Select Locations to Target: Advertise in any areas where the App Store is available. You can also narrow down your targeting to specific countries or regions.
Create a Budget: Decide how much you want to spend per month on advertising. You can spend up to $10,000/month per app being promoted. Apple will suggest a maximum cost-per-install (max CPI), but you can set your own as well.
Apple Ads Basic doesn’t require any keywords or audience settings. After you select an app, a budget, and locations to target, you can start running ads on the search results page immediately!
Looking for a more advanced advertising solution? Apple Ads Advanced is perfect for advertising agencies or developers who want a little more control over their promotions. Here’s what you need to do to get started.
Select Your App: Choose any app associated with your App Store Connect account. You can promote an unlimited number of apps.
Select Locations to Target: Advertise in any areas where the App Store is available. Like Apple Ads Basic, you can narrow down your targeting to specific countries or regions.
Select Placements: Decide whether you’d like to run your ads on product pages, search results, the search tab, or the Today tab. If you choose to run ads in the search results, you can choose specific keywords. Your ad will be eligible to show when users type in those terms.
Create a Budget: Decide how much you want to spend per day on advertising. There is no maximum monthly budget, so you can spend as much as you like on advertising. These ads work on a cost-per-tap (CPT) pricing model, so you’ll pay when a user taps your ad. You set your max CPT.
Apple Ads Advanced lets you flex your marketing expertise by giving you more control over your app advertising. With the ability to select specific keywords and custom product landing pages, you can create ads that are more personalized, and show up in more places across the App Store.
